ROANOKE, Va. – The Washington and Lee University riding team turned in a stellar performance at the IHSA Hollins Show on Saturday, placing in all 12 events and finishing just one point shy of the team title to finish up the regular season.
The Generals scored 37 points, narrowly trailing Lynchburg (38) in the final standings.
Highlighting the day were
Allison Hines (Open Flat) and
Elli Pope (Intermediate Flat), who both secured victories and qualified for Regionals. Additionally,
Elisabeth Marek and Hines finished second and third, respectively, in the overall High Point Rider standings, with Marek just two points shy of the top spot.
With the latest qualifications, W&L now has seven riders advancing to Regionals in nine events at IHSA Regionals in Lynchburg on March 15, where they will look to advance to the Zone Finals.
