Washington and Lee Wrestling Earns NWCA Scholar All-America Team Honors, 13 Generals Named Individual Scholar All-Americans

LEXINGTON, Va. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has recognized Washington and Lee University as one of the top academic wrestling programs in NCAA Division III, ranking the Generals fourth in the nation with a team GPA of 3.747 in the 2025 NWCA Team Scholar All-America Awards. In addition to the team award, 13 Washington and Lee student-athletes were named NWCA Scholar All-Americans, recognizing their excellence in both athletics and academics.

To qualify, wrestlers must either place in the top eight at their NCAA regional tournament or win at least 66 percent of their matches with a minimum of 15 bouts, while maintaining at least a 3.2 GPA either cumulatively or over the last two semesters.

Ohio Northern University claimed the top spot with an impressive 3.899 team GPA, followed by Heidelberg University (3.82), Augsburg University (3.81), Washington and Lee University (3.747), and St. John Fisher University (3.73), rounding out the top five programs. In Division III, 30 teams were awarded with the team honor, garnering a collective GPA of 3.5002 or higher. 

Washington and Lee's wrestling program continues to uphold a tradition of excellence both on the mat and in the classroom, reflecting the university's broader commitment to academic and athletic success.
