PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Four Washington and Lee wrestlers competed at the NCAA Division III Championships over the weekend, with each advancing through multiple rounds in their respective brackets.
Evan Lindner (149 lbs.) posted a 2-2 record, reaching the fourth round of the consolation bracket. He opened with an 8-0 major decision loss to Michael Conklin (TCNJ) before receiving a bye in the first round of consolations. Lindner rebounded with a 5-2 decision over Chance Babb (Alvernia) and followed with a 10-7 win over Daniel Uribe (Wabash). His tournament run ended with a 7-2 loss to Colby Frost (Southern Maine).
Vincent Ziccardi (141 lbs.) finished 1-2, advancing to the third round of consolations. After receiving a first-round bye, he fell to seventh-seeded Bryce Parke (Coe) by fall at 3:14. Ziccardi earned a 5-2 sudden victory win over Aiden Evans (Loras) before dropping a second-round consolation bout to Connor Kidd (Luther) by fall at 2:28.
Mark Troni (165 lbs.) went 0-2 in his first national tournament appearance. He received a first-round bye before falling to Brayden Peet (Wis.-Whitewater) by an 8-1 decision. In the consolation bracket, he had another bye before being eliminated by Teagan Hendricks (Ohio Northern) in a 3-1 decision.
Jack McCusker (184 lbs.) also went 0-2 in his final collegiate tournament. He opened with a bye before dropping a second-round bout to Austen Wetzel (Westminster) by fall at 3:30. In the consolation bracket, he was pinned by Wills Bronson (John Carroll) in 1:11.
With their performances, Lindner, Ziccardi, Troni, and McCusker concluded their seasons on the national stage, representing W&L among the best in Division III wrestling.
Johnson & Wales University is hosting the 2025 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on March 14-15 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island.
