Men’s Track and Field Secures Four First Place Finishes on Final Day of W&L Carnival

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team secured four first place finishes to close out the 2025 W&L Carnival on Saturday afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • George Marable highlighted the final day of action with a top finish in the 110m hurdles, clocking a time of 15.25 seconds, which ties the second-best time in program history with three other former student-athletes.
  • Evan Langhammer picked up where he left off in the indoor season, securing a first-place finish in the pole vault after clearing a height of 4.46m. Ryan McKenna turned in a first place finish in the 400m hurdles after crossing the finish line in 56.11s. Leo Avigliano rounded out the top finishers for the Generals in the discus. Avigliano recorded a toss of 44.66m, the third-best mark in program history, to secure a first place finish in his first outdoor meet of the season.
  • Ethan De Fonseka, Jonathan Farbman, Mark Freeman, and Patrick France teamed up in the 4x100m relay to kick off the track events. The quartet posted a time of 43.26 seconds to finish in second place. Will Knight turned in a second place finish in the discus on Saturday after recording a toss of 40.52m.
  • In the 3,000m, William Dunaway was the lone General in the event and posted a time of 8:52.32, finishing in second place in his first race of the outdoor season. Jonathan Farbman turned in a third-place finish in the 100m dash, crossing the finish line in 11.09 seconds, just .01 seconds off the No. 5 mark in program history.
  • Brandon Makowski was the Blue and White's top finisher in the javelin, recording a mark of 47.44m to finish in third place. Fidel Small and Patrick Haynes both competed in the triple jump for the Generals, finishing back-to-back in third and fourth place. Small finished in third with a mark of 13.19m, while Haynes leaped 13.13m to finish in fourth.
  • Wilson Kasischke and Danny Jakubowski-Lewis placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400m hurdles. Kasischke clocked a time of 57.00 seconds to finish in fourth, while Jakubowski-Lewis crossed the finish line in 57.83 seconds for fifth place.
  • The Generals had two student-athletes finish in the top eight in the shot put, with Will Knight recording a mark of 13.24m to finish in fourth, while O'Keefe McKinney followed in sixth with a mark of 12.82m.
  • Will DeLoach secured a sixth-place finish in the 800m, crossing the finish line in 1:59.42. Luke Avigliano rounded out the top finishers on Saturday with a seventh-place finish in the 400m, clocking a time of 50.86 seconds.

  • George Marable moved into a tie for No. 2 all-time in the 110m hurdles as he clocked in a time of 15.25s to finish in first place. He tied Ty Del Casal, Zander Tallman, and Brian Krupczak for the No. 2 spot.
  • Leo Avigliano moved up one spot to No. 3 all-time in the program's discus record books after record a toss of 44.66m (146'-06.00"). His mark surpasses Evan Novak's mark of 145'-00.00" which was set in 2022.
