SALEM ,Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team turned in a second place finish at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
- The Generals registered 91 team points across 16 events to finish in second place. Lynchburg secured its fourth straight conference crown after posting 213 team points, while Bridgewater finished in third with 78 points. Roanoke placed fourth with 69 points, and Virginia Wesleyan rounded out the top five with 58 points.
- Evan Langhammer secured his third straight ODAC title in the indoor pole vault on Sunday morning. Langhammer entered at a height of 4.41m (14'-05.50"), clearing the winning height on his first attempt. He then skipped the next height of 4.51m before clearing his final height of 4.61m (15'-01.50"). Lukas Michael turned in a seventh-place finish in his first indoor championship, clearing a height of 3.71m (12'-02.00").
- The Generals had four student-athletes finish within the top eight in the shot put. Will Knight highlighted the group with a fourth-place finish, recording a mark of 14.08m (46'-02.50"), while Stevan Bajski finished right behind him in fifth place with a mark of 14.03m (46'-00.50"). Leo Avigliano posted a new personal-best mark in the event, recording a toss of 13.92m (45'-08.00") to finish in sixth place. O'Keefe McKinney rounded out the group with a seventh-place finish, recording a mark of 13.45m (44'-01.50").
- Fidel Small was the lone scorer in the triple jump on Sunday, securing two team points after finishing in seventh place with a mark of 13.19m (43'-03.25").
- George Marable and Danny Jakubowski-Lewis both qualified for the 60m hurdles finals yesterday. Marable clocked a new personal-best time of 8.38s, improving his No. 2 all-time mark while finishing second in the event. Jakubowski-Lewis turned in a seventh-place finish, crossing the line in 8.79s.
- Keaton Rush highlighted the 3,000m crew in the evening session, securing a second-place finish with a time of 8:39.21. Robert Cooper followed closely behind in fifth place, crossing the finish line in 8:43.03.
- George Marable, Ryan McKenna, Luke Avigliano, and Ethan De Fonseka teamed up in the 4x400m relay to cap off the meet. The squad clocked a time of 3:23.98 to finish in second place and secure conference honors.
TOP FIVE UPDATES
- George Marable shaved off time on his No. 2 all-time mark in the 60m hurdles, clocking in a time of 8.38s in the finals heat this afternoon. Marable's mark is just .01 seconds off of Joe O'Connor's program record of 8.37s.
