Jobe Breaks 200 IM Program Record on Day One of NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Dalton Jobe of the Washington and Lee University men's swimming team reset a program record on the first day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships on Wednesday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Dalton Jobe was the lone General in the 200 individual medley this afternoon, competing in the third heat of the event. He kicked off the national meet with a program-record time of 1:48.94, finishing in 18th place. His time broke teammate Matt Fritz's record of 1:48.99, which was set this season at the team's last-chance meet in February.
  • Leighton Chapman took to the blocks in the 50 freestyle, competing in heat four of the prelims. He recorded a 40th-place finish after clocking a time of 20.96 seconds.
  • Charles Byars, Harrison Cerone, Matt Fritz, and Chapman teamed up in the final event of the prelims session for the 400 medley relay. The quartet clocked a time of 3:17.75, finishing in 18th place and missing qualification for the finals session by just two spots.
MEET RESULTS UP NEXT
  • Tomorrow's preliminary session is slated to start at 10 a.m. with the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay. Matt Fritz will compete in the 100 butterfly while Dalton Jobe and Luke Nagel will compete in the 200 freestyle. Both men's and women's 200 freestyle relay teams will take to the pool tomorrow as well.
