No. 16 W&L edged by No. 27 Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The 16th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision at No. 27 Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
It what ended in a tight finish, the Eagles (9-2) picked up the crucial doubles point after sweeping all three matches by a combined 18-8.
 
In singles play, W&L's (7-3) Sanjheev Rao (5) and Sahil Arora (6) held down the bottom two positions with straight-set wins. Rao lost just three games against Albert Vladimirskiy, while Arora dropped just a single game against Matt Scott. The Eagles were victors in straight sets at the top two positions, thanks to Trevor Rein at No. 1 and Brock Ladehoff at No. 2, leaving the match up to Nos. 3 and 4.
 
Senior Eli Hirshberg (3) and sophomore Heys Parker (4) both won their first sets but surrendered their seconds to each need three sets to decide a winner. Parker emerged victorious over Ryan King with a 6-2 win in the third, but UMW's Evan Fisher won the third set at No. 3, 6-4.
