SALEM, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team sits in third following the first day of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Indoor Championships while
Keaton Rush secured the first 5,000m title since 2017.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
- The Generals are sitting in third place following the first day of action, securing 33 team points. Lynchburg currently leads the meet with 51 points, with Bridgewater (43) eight points behind in second. Virginia Wesleyan is in fourth with 23 points, while Roanoke tallied 22 points to round out the top five.
- Keaton Rush highlighted the first day of action, clocking the second-fastest time in program history on his way to the first 5,000m title since Mac Strehler secured the 5k crown in 2017. Rush crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 14:46.90. Robert Cooper finished right behind Rush in second place, clocking a time of 14:58.24.
- Sam Daunt and Jackson Kodenski finished back-to-back in fifth and sixth place to round out the scorers in the 5k. Daunt posted a personal-best time of 15:16.95 to finish in fifth, while Kodenski crossed the finish line in 15:18.14, a new personal best, to finish in sixth.
- George Marable and Danny Jakubowski-Lewis both qualified for the 60m hurdles finals tomorrow after posting the second- and fourth-best times in the prelims. Marable clocked a time of 8.44s which moves him to No. 2 all-time in the program record books. Jakubowski-Lewis crossed the finish line in 8.83s, to secure his spot in the finals.
- Evan Novak was the lone General competing in the weight throw this afternoon. Novak turned in a seventh place finish after recording a toss of 14.81m (48'-07.25").
- Davis Amare, Ryan McKenna, William Fitch, and Raja Mehendale teamed up in the distance medley relay to wrap up the first day of action. The squad posted a time of 10:48.94 to finish in third place and secured six team points.
TOP FIVE UPDATES
- Keaton Rush moved to No. 2 all-time after an impressive performance in the 5,000m on Saturday. Rush paced the field with winning time of 14:46.90 to surpass Mac Strehler's time of 14:49.44 which was set in 2017.
- Jonathan Farbman tied the fourth-fastest mark in the 60m dash this afternoon, clocking in a time of 7.08s to finish in tenth place in the prelims. His time ties Agustin Kim's time which was set in 2013.
- George Marable moved to No. 2 all-time in the program record books after clocking in a time of 8.44s in the prelims of the 60m hurdles. He time surpasssed Drew Pranka's time of 8.45s which was set in 2018.
