Women’s Track and Field Resets Two Program Records at Rockingham Collegiate Open

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team reset two program records and achieved 12 personal bests on Friday at the Rockingham Collegiate Open. 

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Amanda Romano highlighted Friday with a record-breaking performance in the 60m hurdles. Romano clocked a time of 9.07s to finish in first place in the event. Emily Sansbury posted a top finish in the mile run after clocking a time of 5:21.86.
  • Ashley D'Ambrosia reset her own program record in the pole vault this afternoon, clearing a personal-best height of 3.71m (12'-02.00") to finish in first place. She also clocked the sixth-fastest time in the 200m, posting a time of 26.61s to finish in fourth place.
  • Ana Hodneland highlighted the 400m on Friday, clocking a time of 1:03.58 to finish in second place. Jesma Evans and Romano also competed in the 200m dash, with Evans leading the group with a second-place finish while also posting the fifth-fastest time in program history. Romano turned in a sixth-place finish in the 200m, clocking a time of 27.23s.
  • Layla Keadle had a personal-best performance in the pole vault this afternoon, finishing right behind D'Ambrosia in second place. She cleared a new personal-best height of 3.56m (11'-08.00") which ranks second in program history. Abby Cholewa finished in fifth place with a mark of 3.11m (10'-02.25") while Gabby Pullen rounded out the Generals in the pole vault, finishing in sixth place with a mark of 2.96m (9'-08.50").
  • Lilly Versen turned in a third-place finish in the 60m dash, crossing the finish line in 7.99s. Ivy Gore finished in eighth place after clocking a time of 8.46s. Madelyn Venable also competed in the 60m hurdles finals, finishing in eighth place with a season-best time of 10.72s.
  • Mackenzie Moore and Hanna Kowkabany both had personal-best performances in the 3,000m on Friday. Moore turned in a third-place finish in the event after clocking in a time of 11:19.25, while Kowkabany finished in fourth place with a time of 11:26.15.
  • Mimi Kemp clocked a personal-best time of 2:24.16 to finish in fourth place in the 800m, while Hannah Adams posted a seventh-place finish in the mile run, crossing the finish line in a personal-best time of 5:42.06.
  • Bella Devraj and Madelyn Venable both competed in the long jump on Friday. Devraj posted a third-place finish after recording a personal-best mark of 5.06m (16'-07.00"). Venable finished two spots behind Devraj in fifth after recording a mark of 5.00m (16'-04.75").

  • Ashley D'Ambrosia reset her own program record in the pole vault this afternoon, clearing a new personal best height of 3.71m (12'-02.00") to finish first in the event. D'Ambrosia also moved to No. 6 all-time in the 200m dash this afternoon, clocking in a time of 26.61s. She surpassed Stacy Doornbos' time of 26.63s.
  • Layla Keadle moved to No. 2 all-time in the pole vault record books after clearing a height of 3.56m (11'-08.00") to finish in second place in the event. Keadle's mark moves her past Lizzy Stanton's mark of 11'-07.75" which was set in 2016.
  • Amanda Romano broke the program record in the 60m hurdles on Friday, clocking in a time of 9.07s to finish in first place. Romano moved past Nikki Doherty's time of 9.08s which was set in 2020.
  • Jesma Evans moved to No. 5 all-time in the 200m dash this afternoon after clocking in a time of 26.38s. Evans moved past Stacy Doornbos' time of 26.63s which was set in 2009.
