Men’s Track and Field Posts Three First Place Finishes at Rockingham Collegiate Open

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team secured three wins and 15 top eight finishes at the Rockingham Collegiate Open on Friday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Davis Amare, Ryan McKenna, Jaden Brighter, and Will De Loach teamed up in the distance medley relay to kick off the meet. The squad posted a time of 10:46.08 to secure a first-place finish.
  • George Marable recorded a top finish in the 400m this afternoon, clocking a time of 51.31s to take first place. Marable also ran the third-fastest time in program history in the prelims of the 60m hurdles, posting a time of 8.48s.
  • Evan Langhammer secured the final win for the Blue and White in the pole vault. Langhammer posted a new season-best of 4.73m (15'-06.00") to secure first place. Troy Spillman turned in a seventh-place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.53m (11'-06.75").
  • Will Knight recorded a second-place finish in the shot put with a season-best mark of 14.70m (48'-02.50"). O'Keefe McKinney finished two spots behind Knight in fifth place after recording a mark of 13.82m (45'-04.00"), a new personal best. Leo Avigliano posted a personal best in the shot put, recording a toss of 13.81m (45'-03.50"). Stevan Bajski rounded out the Generals in the shot put with an eighth-place finish, posting a mark of 13.03m (42'-08.75").
  • Row Sterne and William Dunaway both competed in the 3,000m run this afternoon, with Sterne leading the duo with a second-place finish. Sterne crossed the finish line in 9:01.52, while Dunaway clocked a time of 9:10.04 to finish in third place.
  • Danny Jakubowski-Lewis recorded a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles, posting a season-best time of 8.74s. Jonathan Farbman was the lone General in the 60m dash finals, clocking a time of 7.11s to finish in sixth place.
  • Ethan De Fonseka highlighted the 400m crew on Friday, recording a third-place finish with a time of 52.05s. Javan Hirwa turned in a seventh-place finish in the event, crossing the finish line in 53.50s. William Fitch was the lone General competing in the mile run on Friday, posting a fifth-place finish with a time of 4:27.65.

  • George Marable moved up one spot to No. 3 all-time in the 60m hurdles record book on Friday after clocking in a time of 8.48s in the prelims. Marable moves past Ty del Casal's time of 8.55s which was set in 2023.
