Men’s Track and Field Secures Two Wins at Joe LaRocco Invite

SALEM, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team secured two first place finishes and fifteen top-eight finishes at the Joe LaRocco Invite at Roanoke College on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Sam Daunt and Evan Langhammer each recorded event wins for the Generals this afternoon at the Joe LaRocco Invitational. Daunt claimed first place in the 5,000m run, clocking a time of 15:17.62, while Langhammer cleared 4.71m (15'-05.50") to win the pole vault. Langhammer's mark currently ranks 32nd in Division III.
  • George Marable improved his top-five program time in the 60m hurdles, finishing second with a time of 8.56 seconds, inching closer to the No. 3 spot on W&L's all-time list. Danny Jakubowski-Lewis also qualified for the finals, placing seventh with a time of 9.12 seconds.
  • Luke Avigliano and Mitchell DiMond each secured third-place finishes in their respective events. Avigliano posted a time of 51.66 seconds in the 400m, while DiMond clocked a personal-best 4:22.68 in the mile, finishing as the top collegiate runner in the race.
  • Thomas Franklin and Colun Verrett joined Daunt in the 5,000m, with Franklin placing fourth in 15:37.31 and Verrett finishing seventh in 15:50.78.
  • Jackson Kodenski set a new personal best in the 3,000m, crossing the finish line in 8:53.04 to place fifth.
  • In the shot put, Will Knight and Stevan Bajski finished back-to-back in sixth and seventh place. Knight recorded a mark of 13.92m (45'-08.00"), while Bajski posted a toss of 13.77m (45'-02.25").
  • Jaden Brighter recorded a season-best time of 2:03.77 in the 800m, earning eighth place.Patrick Haynes secured a pair of eighth-place finishes in the triple jump and long jump. He recorded a mark of 12.83m (42'-01.25") in the triple jump and leaped 6.28m (20'-07.25") in the long jump.
  • Schuyler Clark, Javan Hirwa, Mitchell DiMond, and Jaden Brighter rounded out the Generals' top-eight finishers, placing seventh in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:37.99.

  • George Marable improved his program's fourth-best time in the 60m hurdles after clocking in a time of 8.56s in today's finals. He inches closer to Ty del Casal's time of 8.55s which was set in 2022.
