Women’s Track and Field Concludes Winter Relays, Bison Open

LEXINGTON, Va. / LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team recorded six top eight finishes on Saturday while four student-athletes found themselves in the program's record books.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Junior Bailey Hedgemon headlined Saturday's action, finishing second in the weight throw at the VMI Winter Relays with a toss of 16.07m (52'-08.75").
  • At the Bison Open at Bucknell University, junior Sophia Breschi and seniors Emma Mitchell and Adia Vera competed in the 800m. Breschi led the group with a third-place finish, crossing the line in 2:20.85—the seventh-fastest time in program history. Her time currently ranks fifth in the South Region and second in the conference. Mitchell placed sixth, recording a personal-best time of 2:23.39, while Vera followed in eighth place with a time of 2:26.10.
  • Senior Amanda Romano competed in the 60m hurdles finals, finishing sixth with a time of 9.32 seconds.
  • Sophomore Jesma Evans raced in the 400m at the Bison Open, securing an eighth-place finish with a season-best time of 1:01.50.
  • Additionally, Sofia Petrucelli, Mackenzie Moore, Ana Hodenland, Brianna Breyault, Annabelle Sutliff, and Simmons Lee all recorded personal or season-best times on Saturday in their respective events.

  • Bella Timmerding improved her fifth-best mark in the weight throw this afternoon, recording a toss of 13.21m (43'-04.25") to finish ninth in the event. Her mark currently ranks 20th in the South Region and 10th in the conference.
  • Ashley D'Ambrosia and Lilly Versen both entered the program's 200m record books with personal-best performances. D'Ambrosia moved to No. 7 all-time after clocking in at 26.73 seconds, while Versen followed closely, finishing in 26.74 seconds. D'Ambrosia's time ranks 16th in the South Region and third in the ODAC, while Versen's mark ranks 16th in the region and fourth in the conference.
  • Sophia Breschi recorded the seventh-fastest 800m time at Bucknell on Saturday afternoon, finishing third among Division I competition with a time of 2:20.85. Her mark currently ranks fifth in the South Region and second in the conference.
