Debiec Named Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Three Generals Garner First Team Honors

FOREST, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's volleyball team garnered three First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) citations while Senior Riley Debiec was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced on Saturday evening following the ODAC Championship match.

Debiec was named the ODAC / Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year, marking the second-straight year that a General earned the distinction as Avery Myers '25 was the recipient of the award last season. Debiec was named an All-Conference selection for the third-straight season, securing First Team honors for the first time in her career. She was named a Second Team selection in 2023 and 2024. This season, Debiec has played in all 32 matches and ranks second on the team with 333 kills on 888 swings for a .275 hitting percentage. She has added 15 service aces and 49 blocks, the second-most on the team this season. During the conference slate, Debiec led the team with 121 kills on 298 attempts for a team-high .302 hitting percentage while registering 15 blocks. Debiec reached a career milestone this season, becoming the 14th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 kills. She ranks 9th all-time in kills with 1,229 and ranks 8th in sets played during a career with 453.


Junior Grace Mitchener picked up her third-straight All-Conference nod and second consecutive First Team honor after another impressive year with the Blue and White. Mitchener leads the team and ranks second in the ODAC this season with 374 kills on 1,189 attempts for a .230 hitting percentage while leading the conference with 4.02 kills per set. She also leads the team with 34 service aces, ranks second on the team with 372 digs, and has registered 30 blocks. She recorded 91 kills on 289 swings for a .215 hitting percentage during the conference season. Mitchener recorded nine service aces, ten blocks, and 87 digs. Mitchener also reached a pair of milestones this season, surpassing 1,000 career kills and digs to become the 8th person in program history to eclipse both marks. She ranks 15th all-time in kills with 1,063 and ranks 14th in digs with 1,140.


Junior Vivi Vasquez rounded out the All-ODAC selections, securing her second-straight First Team honor. Vasquez leads the team and conference with 572 digs this season, the fifth-most in a single season, while posting a .973 reception percentage with only ten errors on 375 attempts this season. She leads the ODAC and ranks 27th in Division III this season with 5.33 digs per set while ranking 24th in the country in total digs. Vasquez ranks No. 2 all-time in career digs with 1,635.


The Generals earned the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament following a 3-1 win over Bridgewater to lift their third-straight and 21st overall title on Saturday afternoon. W&L will find out their opponent for Regional Quarterfinals on Monday during the selection show at 1 p.m.
