BRIDGEWATER, Va. —The No. 22 Washington and Lee University field hockey team capped its 2025 regular season with a 2–0 road victory over Bridgewater College on Saturday afternoon at the Jopson Athletic Complex.
With the win, the Generals (13–4, 7–1 ODAC) enter the postseason having won six straight conference games and posting their seventh shutout of the year. W&L outshot Bridgewater (8–9, 4–4 ODAC) by a 20–3 margin and held the Eagles without a shot on goal until the final 10 minutes of play.
Sophomore
Charlotte Dreany opened the scoring midway through the first quarter, capitalizing off a penalty corner at 8:49 from
Margaret Cover. The Generals kept the pressure on throughout, recording 12 penalty corners and 13 shots on goal, but it wasn't until the fourth quarter that they added an insurance goal. Senior forward
Sydney Baggett sealed the win at 53:08, firing a shot into the cage for her ninth goal of the year.
Goalkeeper
Julia McDonald earned the win without facing a shot, securing her fifth complete shutout of the season and the 11th of her career. Bridgewater goalkeepers Madalyn Miller and Ashley Nau combined for nine saves in the loss.
