LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's tennis team hosted its first dual match of the season and cruised to a 6-1 win over Roanoke on Thursday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Generals (1-0, 1-0 ODAC) took 2-of-3 doubles matches for the opening point. Sophomore Sahil Arora and first-year Harrison Silver blanked Ian Michel and Jackson Wagner at No. 3, while sophomore Ryan Good and first-year Pearce Lane dropped only one game against Julio Marques and Emiliano Ramirez at No. 2.
- Silver and first-year Justin Ilie picked up the first two singles points for W&L. Silver was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 6 and Ilie topped Wagner, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5.
- Junior Sanjheev Rao clinched the match at No. 3 soon before Arora earned a win at No. 4. Both players lost only four games each. First-year Todd Cannaliato rounded out the Generals' wins with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2.
- The Maroons (0-2, 0-1 ODAC) won two matches on the day at No. 1 doubles and singles. Federico Maccari and Nolan Macedo got a 6-4 win in doubles, while Maccari outlasted Lane at No. 1 singles by a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (4) final.

The Generals will play in one final dual match to end their fall season when they host Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
