WATERFORD, Conn. — Facing one of the deepest national fields of the season, members of the Washington and Lee women's cross country team placed 19th out of 36 programs in the women's championship 6K race at the 2025 Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park.
The women's championship featured 16 nationally ranked teams — including all of the nation's top five — and produced one of the fastest collective performances in meet history. Middlebury's Audrey Maclean repeated as champion with a time of 20:17.2, becoming the first back-to-back winner since 2018 and recording the second-fastest women's time ever on the course. In a remarkable field where only five runners had ever broken 21:00 prior to this year, the top four finishers accomplished that mark on Saturday. W&L Junior, Olivia Warr was one of those individuals.
Warr, who finished as the runner-up with a time of 20:39.91, marked her fastest collegiate 6K and one of the best performances in program history. Senior Eve Spencer followed in 73rd place (22:25.60), while junior Reese Brown crossed 120th (22:56.65). Senior Sarah Clark (197th, 23:48.84) and sophomore Julie Anne Bush (198th, 23:49.00) completed the scoring lineup. Seniors Brianna Breyault (234th, 24:37.27) and first-year Claire Dumont (239th, 24:40.13) displaced for the Blue and White.
The Generals totaled 539 points to finish 19th overall, as Williams claimed the team title with 73 points, followed by MIT (97), Johns Hopkins (113), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (158), and NYU (179). Find the meet's full results, HERE.
Up Next: The Generals will compete at the ODAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1, hosted by Bridgewater College. The women's race is set for 11 a.m.
