LEXINGTON, Va. —The No. 25 Washington and Lee University field hockey team closed out its remains perfect at home thanks to a 5–0 victory over Randolph-Macon College on Senior Day at the W&L Turf Field on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the game, the Generals honored their six seniors —
Sydney Baggett,
Betty Boatwright,
Amanda Tan,
Amanda Brickner,
Jordan Hoover, and
Julia McDonald. Over the past four years, the Class of 2026 has led W&L to a 49–21 overall record and a 22–7 mark in ODAC play, capturing the 2022 conference championship and earning an NCAA Tournament First Round victory. Through their leadership, resilience, and commitment, this group has built a lasting legacy defined by excellence, teamwork, and pride in representing Washington and Lee University.
Once the game began, the Generals (9–4, 3–1 ODAC) dominated from start to finish, outshooting the Yellow Jackets (8–5, 2–2 ODAC) by a 44–4 margin and holding an 8–2 advantage in penalty corners.
First-year
Madeline Lancione opened the scoring late in the second quarter at 18:45, and
Britty Page doubled the lead just before halftime, finishing off a setup from
Zoe Dolfis at 28:12. W&L kept up the offensive pressure in the third, as Baggett converted a feed from
Emma Wirth up the left side of the field at 37:29 and Dolfis added an unassisted goal less than seven minutes later at 44:06, reclaiming her out rebound for a second-chance goal.
Margaret Scheurer capped the scoring with a strike in the fourth quarter at 54:06 to seal the 5–0 victory.
In goal,
Julia McDonald made one save en route to her fourth shutout of the season and 21st of her career, tying for third all-time in program history. Randolph-Macon goalkeeper Valentina Ambrogi-Torres recorded 13 saves in the loss.
