Men's Cross Country Finishes Strong in Regional Tune-Up and Takes Third

SALEM, Va. – Members of the Washington and Lee men's cross country team earned a third-place finish at the South Region Showdown hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday morning at Green Hill Park, the site of the 2025 NCAA Division III South Regional Championships. The Generals totaled 100 points in a meet that featured a mix of Division I, II, and III programs from across the region.

Division I East Tennessee State claimed the team title with 34 points, followed by Pfeiffer (65), while W&L placed third ahead of Ohio Northern (116) and host Roanoke (137).

Senior Keaton Rush paced the Generals with a 12th-place finish in 25:12.9. Junior Jackson Kodenski followed in 25th (25:57.5), just ahead of classmate Thomas Franklin (28th, 26:01.0). Wyatt Benjamin crossed in 33rd at 26:11.4, and Colin Verrett closed out the scoring five in 45th with a 26:33.7 effort.

Senior Luke Newton (118th, 28:34.2) rounded out W&L's contingent as the Generals previewed the championship course where they'll compete for regional honors next fall. Find the meet's full results, HERE.

Up Next: The Generals will compete at the ODAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1, hosted by Bridgewater College. The men's race is set for 10 a.m.
