CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Members of the Washington and Lee men's cross country team finished fifth overall in the Royals Cross Country Challenge on Friday evening at McAlpine Creek Park. The Generals totaled 135 points in a strong regional field that featured Division I and II competition.
Southern Wesleyan claimed the team title with 55 points, followed by Augusta (71), UVA-Wise (104), and Belmont Abbey (111). W&L placed fifth as the top NCAA Division III program in the meet.
William Fitch led the Generals with a 19th-place finish, clocking 26:39.54 over the 8k course. Teddy Meredith was close behind in 22nd (26:48.10), with Davis Amare right on his heels in 23rd (26:48.66). Rookies Ethan Khouri (35th, 27:13.95) and John Hogan (46th, 27:32.80) rounded out the scoring five.
Jack Camp (73rd, 28:11.48), Mitchell DiMond (75th, 28:18.06), and Jaden Brighter (81st, 28:23.83) added depth for the Generals. See the full results for the invitational, HERE.
Up Next: The Generals return to action on Saturday, October 18, at the Roanoke Cross Country Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. The men's race is set for 11:30 a.m. at Green Hill Park in Salem, Va.
