Men’s Swimming Wins Twelve Events, Dispatches RMC 191-71

ASHLAND, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's swimming team rolled to a dominant 191-71 win over Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Blue and White improved to 5-2 in dual meets this season while securing their second Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) dual victory. The Generals dominated the competition, winning 12 of the 14 events, including both relays.
  • Thomas Denton delivered an outstanding performance with two individual wins, sweeping the breaststroke events. Denton clocked a time of 1:00.78 to claim victory in the 100 breaststroke, followed by a winning time of 2:15.13 in the 200 breaststroke.
  • In the distance events, Stephen Ewing took first place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:19.41, while Jackson Hall triumphed in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:50.18.
  • Dalton Jobe and Leighton Chapman dominated the freestyle sprints. Jobe secured first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 46.84 seconds, while Chapman claimed gold in the 200 freestyle, clocking a time of 1:46.76.
  • Jackson Brooks earned a victory in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 55.92 seconds, and Matt Fritz followed up with a win in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 1:59.13.
  • Luke Nagel and Zane Ross rounded out the individual victories for the Blue and White. Nagel captured gold in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:59.09, while Ross secured first place in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 1:59.07.
  • The relays showcased the Generals' depth and teamwork. Charles Byars, Harrison Cerone, Matt Fritz, and Leighton Chapman opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, clocking a time of 1:34.47. Later, Byars, Luke Nagel, Dalton Jobe, and Dylan Reher teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:26.23 to sweep the relay events and cap off a dominant team victory.
