Women’s Track and Field Secures Six Top Eight Finishes at Finn Pincus Invite

SALEM, Va. - The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team had six top-eight finishers on the first day of the Finn Pincus Invite at Roanoke College on Friday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Senior Ashley D'Ambrosia highlighted the first day of the Finn Pincus Invite as she improved her program record mark in the pole vault. D'Ambrosia soared over the bar at a height of 3.65m (11'-11.75") to set a new personal best. This mark ranks 5th in Division III this season so far and leads the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and the South Region.
  • Junior Camille Gillum turned in a second place finish in her first meet of the season in the high jump. Gillum got over the first three heights on her first attempts before clearing 1.60m (5'-03.00") on her second attempt to turn in a top three finish. 
  • Senior Amanda Romano qualified for tomorrow's 60m hurdles finals after clocking in a time of 9.53s, the fourth fastest time in the field.
  • First-year Layla Keadle posted a top-eight finish in the pole vault during her first collegiate meet. Keadle recorded a mark of 3.35m (10'-11.75") to finish in seventh place which ranks sixth all-time in program history. 
  • Senior Kristen Clodgo and Junior Brianna Breyault both posted top-eight finishes in the 3,000m to cap off the first day of action. Clodgo clocked in a time of 11:05.34 to finish in fifth place while Breyault crossed the finish line in 11:25.85 to record a seventh place finish. 
  • Lilly Versen clocked in the fifth-fastest time in program history in the 60m dash, crossing the finish line in 8.12s during the semifinals heat of the event. Gabby Pullen posted the tenth-best mark in program history in the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.05m (10'-00.00")

  • Ashley D'Ambrosia extended her program record in the pole vault by three inches, recording a mark of 3.65m (11'-11.75"). She has set a new personal best and program record in both meets this season. 
  • Lilly Versen posted the fifth fastest time in program history in the 60m dash as she crossed the finish line in 8.12s in the semifinals of the event. Versen moved pasted Nikki Doherty's time of 8.14s which was set in 2020.
  • Layla Keadle moved to No. 6 all-time in the pole vault, posting a mark of 3.35m (10'-11.75") in her first meet with the Blue and White. Keadle moved Abby Cholewa's mark of 10'10.00 which was set last season.
  • Gabby Pullen moved into the top ten list with a solid performance in her first meet of the new year. Pullen posted the tenth-best mark in program history in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.05m (10'-00.00"). 
UP NEXT
  • The Blue and White will compete in the second day of the Finn Pincus Invite tomorrow with the action starting at 10 a.m. with the Long Jump. The mile run will kick off the track events at 10:30 a.m.
