LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee University field hockey team earned a 4-2 victory over Catholic University on Saturday at W&L Turf Field.
The Generals (4-1) and the Cardinals (2-3) traded goals early, but W&L pulled away in the second half with a pair of late goals to secure the non-conference win.
Sophomore Anne Burns Fiveash put W&L on the board first in the second quarter, but the Cardinals quickly equalized as time expired in the second quarter to go into halftime. The Generals regained the lead early in the third quarter and never looked back, with Betty Boatwright's insurance goal sealing the win in the final minute.

- 27:27 – W&L – Anne Burns Fiveash opened the scoring with an assist from Cecilia Hartford.
- 30:00 – Catholic – With two seconds remaining before halftime, Catholic was awarded a penalty corner. Niki Micciche capitalized on the opportunity, scoring with an assist from Oli Bond.
- 33:32 – W&L – Sydney Baggett gave the Generals the lead off a penalty corner, firing a shot from the top of the circle, assisted by Zoe Dolfis.
- 46:33 – Catholic – Emma Shallow tied the game at 2-2 after a penalty corner, with an assist from Sophia Conners.
- 52:08 – W&L – After four consecutive penalty corners, Jenna Bernstein scored off the final insert, assisted by senior Kate Ruffin.
- 59:25 – W&L – Betty Boatwright sealed the win, scoring off a breakaway with Ruffin for her second assist of the game. The duo had a two-on-one advantage against Catholic goalkeeper Abigail Kearney.
