FERRUM, Va. - George Mann and
Adam Roy of the Washington and Lee University men's track and field team were honored for their success this season, earning Virginia Sports Information Director (VaSID) All-State accolades.
Mann, a rising sophomore from Hoover, Ala., was selected to the first team following an impressive rookie campaign for the Blue and White. He claimed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) crown in the javelin throw, becoming the 9th General in program history to win the event at the conference meet. Mann qualified for the Outdoor NCAA Championships in the event after posting the 11th-best mark in Division III. He achieved this qualifying mark at the W&L Carnival, recording the second-best mark in program history with a throw of 61.74 meters. Mann finished in 19th place at the NCAA Championships, the second-best finish in program history at the national meet.
Recent graduate
Adam Roy was named a second-team honoree in the throws event. Roy, a Bedford, N.H., native, finished second at the Outdoor ODAC Championships this season and placed fourth in the javelin. He also posted the fourth-best mark in program history in the hammer throw at the conference meet, recording a toss of 46.04 meters. His javelin mark ranked 47th in Division III this season.
