BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The NCAA Division III PING All-America honorees were announced by the GCAA and Washington and Lee University's first-year, Jonathan McEwen was honored with a First Team All-America selection was the DIII Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award recipient presented by StrackaLine, following the conclusion of the DIII Men's Golf NCAA National Championships.
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Rookie of the Year, McEwen recorded a top-25 finish in all but one tournament this season, five top-10s, and finished T11 with a four-under 284 (65-77-70-72) at the 2024 NCAA Division III Championship. The Portsmouth, Va., native, who is ranked 14th in the Scoreboard powered by Clippd National Rankings, guided the Generals to a T6 finish this week while earning First-Team PING All-America, PING All-Region, and First-Team All-ODAC honors.
The rookie opened up the championships with a round of seven strokes under par, tied for the second-lowest round to par in program history. After the first 18 holes, McEwen was in second place on the individual leaderboard
A rocky second round was counteracted with a strong third round and recovered some ground, tied for 10th place at four strokes under, going into the final day of competition.
McEwen was also named to the GCAA All-Freshman team along with Ryan Dannegger of Carnegie Mellon, Benjamin Garcia of Swarthmore, Mat Gover of MCLA, Sam Higaki of Carleton, Mason Remington of Whitman, and Thomas Wang of Rochester.
