LEXINGTON, Va. – The 25th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team wrapped up road regular season competition on Thursday with a 9-0 sweep of Lynchburg at the Crosswhite Athletic Club.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Senior
Connor Coleman and first-year
Sanjheev Rao cruised at No. 3 doubles with an 8-2 win, while the top two W&L (13-7, 8-0 ODAC) tandems both posted 8-5 wins. Juniors
Evan Erb and
Will Kistler were the pairing at the top spot, with first-year
Heys Parker and senior
Josh Rassin at No. 2.
Four of the Generals' wins in singles came in straight sets, with sophomore
Rider Yeaman (6-1, 6-0) dropping the fewest games across all six matches at No. 5. First-year
Britton Buckingham secured a 6-2 win in set 1 before posting a shutout of his own in the second for a win at No. 6. Kistler (6-1, 6-1) also only dropped two total games at No. 2, while junior
Eli Hirshberg claimed victory at No. 3, 6-1, 6-2, to round out the straight-set wins.
Erb fell behind by a set at No. 1, but rebounded with a 6-1 win in set 2, before going on to win the 10-point tiebreak in the third, 10-7. Coleman, who also had to battle back from a one-set deficit, completed the winning Generals on the day with a 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-3 win at No. 4.
NOTEWORTHY POINTS:
Collectively, the Generals improved their singles record in ODAC play to 41-7 after the singles sweep on Thursday. They have seen similar success in doubles play, as well, with a 21-3 combined record in their eight conference matches this season.

The Generals' next match will mark the final one of the regular season before next week's ODAC Tournament. W&L hosts Hampden-Sydney on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in the regular season finale.
