Generals headed to Providence, R.I., for second weekend of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS -- The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the sites for the Division III Women's Basketball Round of 16 and Quarterfinal games on Sunday, and Washington and Lee will travel to Rhode Island College in Providence.
 
The Generals (28-2) will match up against the hosts and third-ranked Anchorwomen (29-0) on Friday in the Round of 16, with Bates (24-5) and No. 6 Wartburg (27-2) making up the other matchup. W&L will be making its first all-time appearance in the Round of 16 following the first two NCAA Tournament wins in program history over Vassar (68-61) and Catholic (80-70) last weekend.
 
The Anchorwomen remain unbeaten in 29 games this season and earned their trip to the Round of 16 with wins over Saint Joseph's (Maine) (56-37) and St. John Fisher (66-43) in the first two rounds. Bates topped Brookyln College (66-51) and Widener (79-66) to keep its season going, while Wartburg powered past Wisconsin Lutheran (72-65) and Illinois Wesleyan (62-59) in its first two tournament games.
 
Bates and Wartburg will face-off first on Friday at 5:30 p.m., followed by W&L and RIC at 8:00 p.m. The winning teams from Friday's games will then meet in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. More information regarding streaming, tickets, live stats, etc. will become available later in the week.
