Women's Basketball collects four CSC Academic All-District citations

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division III Women's Basketball Academic All-District team was announced on Tuesday, and Washington and Lee earned four selections.
 
Senior Lauren Achter, juniors Quinn McGuinness and Elka Prechel, and sophomore Riley Bryant, represented the Generals on this year's Academic All-District team. McGuinness and Prechel each receive their second such citations, while Achter and Bryant are first-time honorees.
 
Achter, a business administration and environmental studies double-major, closed out her W&L career by appearing 28 of the team's 30 games, compiling 61 points on 36.8 percent field goal shooting, plus 89 rebounds and 13 blocked shots. A seven-time W&L Scholar Athlete and three-time ODAC All-Academic Team student, Achter is the program's all-time leader in games played after she logged minutes in 113 of a possible 118 games, while helping the program to each of its first four 20-win seasons.
 
McGuinness, a chemistry major, played her way onto the All-ODAC Third Team this season by ranking first on W&L in total assists (80), second in scoring average (9.7) and third in rebounding average (4.2). A five-time W&L Scholar Athlete and two-time ODAC All-Academic Team recipient, McGuinness set single-season career highs in scoring and rebounding this season, while starting all 30 games.
 
Prechel, a cognitive and behavioral science and studio art double-major, averaged 7.2 points per game for her junior season, leading the team in made three-point field goals (63) for the second time in three seasons. A five-time W&L Scholar Athlete, Prechel has also made the ODAC All-Academic Team twice and will enter her senior season needing 46 more three-point field goals to break the program record held by Meg Ingram '12.
 
Bryant, an accounting major, was one of W&L's best rebounders this season, pulling down an average of 4.7 per game to rank second on the team. She also contributed 5.2 points per game and totaled 23 assists, 17 steals and 15 blocks in just under 20 minutes per game. Already an ODAC All-Academic Team and three-time W&L Scholar Athlete, Bryant played in all 30 games this season and more than doubled her minutes played from her rookie campaign to total 156 points and 142 rebounds.
 
The Generals went 25-5 overall in 2024-25, the second-most wins in a season in program history, en route to the program's third-straight ODAC title game appearance and fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.
