FERRUM, Va. & BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The 19th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team split the squad to play a pair of road ODAC matches on Wednesday and came away with a pair of 9-0 victories against Ferrum and Bridgewater.
MATCH VS. FERRUM:
The Generals lost five games total in the three doubles matches against the Panthers (0-9, 0-7 ODAC), with
Heys Parker and
Josh Rassin posting an 8-1 win at No. 1 for the most decisive decision. First-year
Britton Buckingham paired with senior
Connor Coleman at No. 2, while seniors
Christian Basnight and
Jonathan Molner teamed up at No. 3, as both duos won, 8-2.
Buckingham (3), Basnight (5) and Molner (6) all posted 6-0, 6-0 wins in their singles matches to close out strong performances. Rassin was nearly perfect at No. 4 in a 6-0, 6-1 win, while Parker (6-1, 6-3) and Coleman (6-2, 6-1) held their opponents to under five total games won each at the top two spots.
MATCH VS. BRIDGEWATER:
Just like in the Ferrum match, W&L surrendered just five total games in doubles play, with juniors
Evan Erb and
Will Kistler having the top finish of 8-0 at No. 1. First-year
Sanjheev Rao and sophomore
Jake Vo dropped two games at No. 3, while junior
Eli Hirshberg and junior
James Kurani won by an 8-3 score at No. 2.
In singles play, Rao (5) and Vo (6) swept away their opposition, while Kistler (2) and Kurani (4) both turned in 6-1, 6-1 wins. Hirshberg defeated Corey Beshoar, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4, while Erb closed out the team shutout with a pair of 6-2 set wins at the top position.
NOTEWORTHY POINTS:
With their two wins, the Generals improve to 8-4 overall on the season and 4-0 in ODAC play. Individually, Generals players are 23-1 in singles against conference counterparts and 11-1 in doubles.

The Generals will return to action with another doubleheader on Saturday, this time on the home courts. They will host Franklin & Marshall at 9:30 a.m. before welcoming Guilford to campus for a 3:00 p.m. start.
