Men’s Track and Field Completes Opening Weekend Double Feature

LYNCHBURG, Va. / WINCHESTER, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team split up for the opening weekend of the 2024-25 season as they competed at the Liberty and Shenandoah Kickoff. 

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Davis Amare, Will DeLoach, and William Fitch kicked off the weekend for the Blue and White at the Liberty University Kickoff on Friday afternoon. Amare led the trio, finishing in fourth place with a time of 4:26.68. DeLoach followed closely behind, clocking a time of 4:28.98 to finish in fifth place, while Fitch recorded a time of 4:34.03 to secure ninth place.
  • The Generals had three student-athletes achieve first-place finishes in their respective events at Shenandoah on Sunday. Keaton Rush claimed the top spot in the 5,000m, clocking a time of 14:53.80 to improve his standing in the program's record books. George Marable secured first place in the 60m hurdles, recording a time of 8.60 seconds. Sam Daunt rounded out the top finishers for the Blue and White, claiming first place in the 3,000m with a time of 8:59.81.
  • Robert Cooper finished right behind Rush in the 5,000m, recording a time of 15:45.32 to earn second place. His time improved his fourth-best mark in program history. Danny Jakubowski-Lewis secured a second-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.76 seconds.
  • Thomas Kallen competed alongside Daunt in the 3,000m, crossing the finish line with a time of 9:26.26 to place sixth. Henry Haden posted a time of 15:45.32 in the 5,000m to finish in seventh place. Jackson Kodenski rounded out the distance events for the Blue and White, finishing in eighth place with a time of 15:50.50.
  • Will Vaughn competed in the long jump on Sunday, leaping 6.04m (19' 9.75") to finish in seventh place. Marable, Jakubowski-Lewis, Schuyler Clark, and Jonathan Farbman teamed up in the 4x400m relay, finishing in third place with a time of 3:32.36.
  • Patrick Haynes secured third place in the triple jump, posting a mark of 12.90m (42' 3.75").
