LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee University field hockey team, seeded fourth, is set to host the fifth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC Field Hockey Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 5. This matchup marks the second meeting between the teams in just four days, following the Generals' 2-0 victory over the Marlins on Saturday, November 2.
The Generals (5-3 in ODAC play) tied with Bridgewater College in the regular season's final standings and both secured home-field advantage for the quarterfinal contests. Bridgewater, who defeated W&L 1-0 earlier in the season, holds the higher seed due to the head-to-head decision. Virginia Wesleyan (12-5, 4-4 ODAC) enters the tournament field for the first time since 2016, bringing added excitement to this quarterfinal clash.
Nationally ranked No. 11 Shenandoah (16-2, 8-0 ODAC) and No. 12 Lynchburg (14-3, 7-1) earned byes through Tuesday's quarterfinals in the six-team bracket. The Hornets will host semifinal contests on Thursday with the winner of Game 1 (W&L vs VWU) slated to take on Shenandoah and the winner of Game 2 (Roanoke College at BC) will travel to Lynchburg.
