No. 22 Men’s Swimming Downs Lynchburg, 200-100, in Saturday Dual

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee University men's swimming team picked up their fourth win of the season, defeating the University of Lyncburg 200-100 on Saturday afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Blue and White are now 4-1 on the season with the win, moving to 10-0 in the all-time series between the two institutions. They won ten of the 14 events this afternoon while winning both relays.
  • Matt Fritz, Harrison Cerone, Thomas Denton and Baxter Smelzer kicked off the meet in good fashion, teaming up to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:34.99.
  • Luke Nagel picked up a pair of wins this afternoon for the Blue and White, securing a first place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:43.96 before posting a winning time of 4:56.29 in the 500 freestyle.
  • Dalton Jobe notched a solo win in the 1000 freestyle, clocking in a winning time of 10:07.75. Reese Nelson secured his third win in the 200 butterfly this season, posting a time of 1:58.29 to finish in first place.
  • Denton secured a solo win in addition to his win with the 200 medley team, finishing in first place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.17s. Payton Crawford posted the fastest time in the 100 butterfly this afternoon, finishing in first with a time of 52.75s. Fritz rounded out the solo wins for the Generals in the 200 individual medley relay, clocking in a time of 1:59.63 for a first place finish.
  • Leigthon Chapman, Smelzer, Jobe and Dylan Reher teamed up in the 200 freestyle relay to wrap up the meet. The squad clocked in a winning time of 1:24.96.

UP NEXT
  • The 22nd-ranked Generals are back in action this weekend at the Randolph-Macon Invitational. The three-day meet will kick off on Friday, Nov. 22 before concluding on Sunday, Nov. 24. Each day will have two sessions, with the first one starting at 10 a.m. and the second one set to start at 6 p.m.
