BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Washington and Lee University field hockey team fell 1-0 to Bridgewater College in an ODAC contest on Friday night at the Jopson Complex.
Despite outshooting the Eagles 18-6 and earning 11 penalty corners to Bridgewater's two, the Generals (7-4, 1-2 ODAC) were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Bridgewater (8-3, 2-1 ODAC) scored the lone goal of the match in the second quarter and held off W&L's pressure for the remainder of the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 17:28 – Bridgewater – Emily Tyler scored the game's only goal, assisted by Daphne Daymude, to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
W&L had several chances to equalize, with 10 of their 18 shots coming in the second quarter. Bridgewater goalkeeper Ashley Nau and backup Madalyn Miller combined for eight saves, while
Julia McDonald made three saves for the Generals.
