LEXINGTON, Va. – The 2022-23 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, were announced on Tuesday, and Washington and Lee collected three honors.

Seniors Tahri Phillips (Wrightsville, Pa. / Linden Hall School for Girls) and Kathryn Vandiver (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Latin School) and junior Hanna Malik (Raleigh, N.C. / Athens Drive) were each named to the Academic All-District team, the first such honor for each student-athlete. College Sports Communicators, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

A cognitive & behavioral science and English double-major and Africana studies minor, Phillips has appeared in 23 of W&L's 25 games this season and is shooting 36 percent from the field. Off the court, Phillips is the 18th student in Washington and Lee University history to earn the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship, which she will use to spend the next two years at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom pursuing a Master's in either Education or Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation. Phillips has also earned the Edward Lee Pinney Prize and the G. Holbrook Barber Scholarship at W&L.

Vandiver has made 24 appearances this season and is averaging 7.1 points per game on 50.8 percent shooting from the field this season. She is also pulling down 7.1 rebounds per game, while adding 1.2 blocks and 1.2 steals per game. A cognitive & behavioral science and Spanish double-major, Vandiver owns the fifth-highest field goal percentage in program history (.477). Vandiver is a six-time W&L Scholar Athlete and a three-time selection to the ODAC All-Academic Team.

On the court, Malik has played in all 25 games this season and is second on the team with 12.8 points per game. One of W&L's best shooters, Malik ranks second in the ODAC in three-point shots made this season with 63, which has moved her from ninth on the program's three-point field goal list to fourth (155). Off the court, Malik is also a cognitive & behavioral science major and has earned W&L Scholar Athlete status four times, with ODAC All-Academic Team honors each of her first two seasons on campus.

With their selections, Phillips, Vandiver and Malik will now move onto the national ballot where they have a chance at garnering Academic All-America honors. The CSC Academic All-America Women's Basketball Teams will be announced in March.

The Generals recently completed their regular season with a 19-6 overall record and earned the top overall seed for the ODAC Tournament after going 16-2 in conference play. They will face eighth-seeded Ferrum in the ODAC Quarterfinals on Thursday at 1:00 pm at the Salem Civic Center.
