INDIANAPOLIS – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its 2023 Men's Soccer Championship field on Monday afternoon, and Washington and Lee was selected to host first and second round action.
The Generals (12-4-4) will play host to Western Connecticut State (15-4-3), SUNY Oneonta (14-3-3) and Catholic (12-6-2) from November 11-12, while facing WestConn in the first round. SUNY Oneonta and Catholic will play each other in the second first-round matchup of the day, with each of the winning teams playing for a spot in the Round of 16 on Sunday.
W&L earned an at-large bid into the tournament after falling by a 3-1 score in the ODAC final to Lynchburg, while WestConn received the Little East Conference's (LEC) automatic bid into the tournament after a 1-0 win over UMass-Boston in the conference title game.
Catholic comes to Lexington as a conference champion, after besting Lycoming, 1-0, in the Landmark Conference final to claim an automatic qualifier. The Red Dragons needed an at-large bid into the tournament following a 1-0 loss against SUNY Cortland in the SUNYAC championship game.
Live stats and live video will be provided by W&L for all games throughout the weekend. W&L and WestConn will play at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, followed by SUNY Oneonta and Catholic at 1:30 p.m. Sunday's Round of 32 game will be held at 1:00 p.m.
