Men's Swimming Takes Down Lynchburg, 198-62

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's swimming team picked up their second dual meet victory of the year with a 198-62 win over the University of Lynchburg on Saturday. 

The Generals won all 14 events to defeat Lynchburg and eight Generals combined for the 12 individual event wins. 

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Charles Byars, Matt Fritz, Harrison Cerone and Dalton Jobe each picked up a pair of first-place finishes in individual events.
  • Fritz, a member of both winning relay teams, accounted for four W&L wins.
  • The trio of Byars, Chapman and Cerone played roles in three wins each between the relays and indivual events. 
  • The 200 medley relay team that consistsed of Fritz, Cerone, Zane Ross and Leighton Chapman finished in a time of 1:33.74. 
  • Chapman, Fritz, Byars and Baxter Smeltzer won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:26.27. 
  • Sophomore Dalton Jobe swam a pair of season best times in the 100 free (46:34) and the 400 IM (4:10.86)
  • Luke Nagel's 1000 free time of 10:10.49 was a season best for W&L.
  • Fritz's 200 back (1:58.80) and Cerone's 50 breaststroke split (27:14) and 100 breaststroke (58.71) round out the season's top performances from today.

  • Leighton Chapman - 50 Freestyle (21.48)
  • Dalton Jobe - 100 Freestyle (46.34); 400 IM (4:10.86)
  • Zane Ross - 100 Butterfly (51.91)
  • Fritz, Cerone, Ross, Chapman - 200 Medley Relay (1:33.74)
  • Chapman, Fritz, Byars, Smeltzer - 200 Freestyle Relay (1:24.68)
