Men's Tennis Swats Yellow Jackets

LEXINGTON – The Washington and Lee men's tennis squad opened its home 2022-23 season with a perfect score against Randolph-Macon College. The Generals took down the Yellow Jackets 6-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles play.

The winning began in doubles play by Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) and Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade). The team of Evans took down the Yellow Jackets' Dunlap and Hammock, 8-6.

First year Jack Yeaman and junior Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) continued the duos winning by taking down Doyle and Herman, 8-3. The finals duo victory came from sophomore Will Kistler (Hilton Head, S.C. / Laurel Springs School) and partner first year Mateo Moss. The duo took down Adair and Hales by a score of 8-0.

In singles play number one General Erb took down number one Yellow Jacket Dunlap, 6-2, 6-4. Kistler continued the winning streak with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Hammock.

Brady continued in his duos partners footsteps with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over the number three Yellow Jacket Doyle. The number four for the Generals, Coleman, took down the number four for the Yellow Jackets 6-0, 6-1.

To round out the day both Yeaman and fellow first year Jake Vo took 6-0, 6-0 victories to round out singles play with a perfect 6-0 score.

With this victory the Generals extend the winning streak over R-MC to 26 matches and a 20-2 mark at home against the Yellow Jackets.

The men's squad returns to action on Sept. 30 for the ITA Regionals.
