MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Senior
Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va. / Douglas Freeman) led the Washington and Lee men's track and field team's performances at the Mount Olive First Chance meet on Saturday with a new program and ODAC record.
Highlights from the meet:
-O'Connor posted 5.05m (16'6.75") in the pole vault to take first place in the event. His mark of 5.05m is also good for a new ODAC record as well, surpassing the previous conference record of 5.02m (16'6.00") set by Lynchburg's Andy Rollins in 2007. O'Connor now holds the program and ODAC indoor and outdoor records in the pole vault.
-Sophomore
Zach Moore (Advance, N.C. / Forsyth Country Day School) competed in the 800m, where he placed second in a time of 1:57.37, while junior
Doug Dracon (Matthews, N.C. / Weddington) posted a third-place effort in the 400m in a time of 49.16.
-First-year
Jaylen Day (Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. / Harve de Grace) rounded out the Top 5 finishers for W&L, as he came in fifth in the 110m hurdles (15.66).
