W&L Men's Lacrosse Glides to a 19-1 Win Over Randolph

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Washington and Lee erupted for 11 first-quarter goals in coasting to a 19-1 victory over Randolph College in ODAC men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at WildCat Stadium.

The Generals (7-5, 5-0) needed just 37 seconds to open the scoring, with sophomore attackman Alex Brown (Norwalk, Conn. / Taft School) finding the net off an assist from junior attackman Hudson Pokorny (Darien, Conn. / Darien).  Brown would score once more before the period was over, while Pokorny finished the opening 15 minutes with one goal and two assists.  First-year attackman Hillis Burns (Louisville, Ky. / St. Xavier) added two goals and one assist in the opening quarter as well.

W&L tacked on three more scores in the second quarter, including two from senior attackman Ian Dardani (Waccabuc, N.Y. / Westminster (Conn.)), the first two goals of his career, for a 14-0 lead at the half.

The Blue & White continued to empty the bench throughout the second half, as first-year players Gavin McLernan (Towson, Md. / Boys' Latin), Jack Todd (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shady Side Academy), A.J. Levitt (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. / The Benjamin School) and Tilt Fernandes (Dallas, Texas / Jesuit) each scored their first career goals.

The Generals out-shot the WildCats (1-10, 0-5) by a count of 58-4, and W&L held advantages of 40-11 on ground balls and 23-1 on faceoffs.

Dardani led the offense with five points on four goals and one assist.  Burns and Brown finished with two goals and one assist each, while Pokorny had one goal and two assists.  Juniors Matt Gallagher (Lynchburg, Va. / E.C. Glass) and Will Bou (Chevy Chase, Md. / Landon) both were perfect at the Faceoff X, with Gallagher going 9-for-9 and Bou going 6-for-6.  Four different keepers played for the Generals, combining for two goals.  Senior Nick Spagnoletti (Madison, N.J. / Madison) started and earned the win.

Junior midfielder Kent Snoddy scored the lone goal for Randolph.  Sophomore William Olichney played all 60 minutes in goal for the WildCats, recording 17 saves.

Washington and Lee will now break for finals and the Generals return to action on Saturday, April 16 for a 1:00 pm home game against Ferrum.
