BALTIMORE, Md. – The Washington and Lee women's track & field team set 11 personal bests and added four new program outdoor Top 5 efforts, en route to placing fourth at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday.
 
Highlights from the meet:
 
-Senior Avery Schiffman (New Vernon, N.J. / The Pingry School) and sophomore Katelyn Gamble (Houston, Texas / The Kinkaid School) led the way with a second-place finish each. Schiffman's came in a personal-best time of 4:39.94 in the 1500m, which was also the fourth fastest in program history. Gamble's runner-up effort came in the 100m (11.98).
 
-Schiffman added a fifth-place effort in the 800m (2:18.67), and Gamble added an eighth-place performance in the 200m (25.63).
 
-Junior Elizabeth Hertzberg (Roanoke, Va. / Cave Spring) tied for fourth in the high jump (1.50m [4'11.0"]), and she also posted two new program Top 5 times. She posted a mark of 10.58m (34'8.50") in the triple jump, fourth best in program history, and 5.21m (17'1.25") in the long jump, fifth in program history.
 
-First-year Madelyn Venable (Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) took seventh place in the long jump (5.57m [18'3.25"]) but, in the process, set a new personal best and the second-highest mark in program history.

-Palethorpe, Eleni Filley, Paige Tulenko, Schiffman - 3rd place 4x400m relay (4:11.64)
-Katelyn Gamble – 2nd place 100m (11.98); 8th place 200m (25.63)

-Avery Schiffman – 5th place 800m (2:18.67); 2nd place 1500m (4:39.94)
