BALTIMORE, Md. – The Washington and Lee men's track & field team traveled to the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday, and placed fifth out of 19 teams.
Highlights from the meet:
-Senior
Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va. / Douglas Freeman) posted a win in the pole vault with a mark of 4.85m (15'11.0"), while adding finishes of seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (15.70) and a tie for eighth in the high jump (1.80m [5'10.75"]).
-First-year
Evan Novak (Jacksonville, Fla. / Providence) and sophomore
Adam Roy (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) both tallied two top-seven finishes and two personal records in the field events. Novak placed second in the discus (44.20m [145']) and came in seventh in the hammer throw (41.66m [136'8.0"]), while Roy finished third in the javelin (53.37m [175'1.0"]) and seventh in the shot put (13.23m [43'5.0"]).
-Sophomore
Mark Waller (Mountain Brook, Ala. / Mountain Brook) and first-year
Jaylen Day (Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. / Harve de Grace) rounded out the top-five performers for W&L on Saturday, as Waller tied for third in the high jump (1.85m [6'0.75"]) and Day placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.53).
