LEXINGTON, Va. — The third-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team scored the first 10 goals of the contest en route to a 21-2 victory over Lynchburg on Saturday at Watt Field.
The Generals (9-2, 3-0 ODAC) tallied four goals in the first with sophomore attacker
Hanna Bishop (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) totaling two and junior midfielder
Jenny Lisovicz (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) and sophomore attacker
Julia Thomson (Larchmont, N.Y./Hackley School) each scoring one.
The lead remained 4-0 through the first two minutes of the second, but then a goal by Lisovicz started a span where W&L registered six goals in just over three minutes to extend the advantage to 10-0 with 9:23 left in the half. Junior attacker
Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton) totaled two goals and an assist during the onslaught, while senior attacker
Katherine Faria (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) had one goal and one assist.
The Hornets (3-7, 1-1 ODAC) scored their first goal with 6:24 left in the second, but the Blue and White tallied the final goal of the half to take an 11-1 lead to intermission. The final two periods proved to be more of the same, with the Generals outscoring Lynchburg, 10-1, in the second half.
W&L had 11 players notch multiple points. Schwab led the way with three goals and two assists, while junior attacker
Janie Stillwell (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) finished with one goal and three assists.
Sophomore midfielder
Walker McKnight (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall), Bishop and Faria all had three points. Bishop tallied three goals, McKnight had one goal and two assists and Faria recorded two goals and one assist.
Lisovicz, Thomson, senior midfielder
Liv Truesdell (New York, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) and first-year midfielder
Claire Horner (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine's School) all registered two goals, and senior attacker
Maggie Frankel (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) and first-year midfielder
Brianna Benoit (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin Senior) both had one goal and one assist.
Sophomore defender
Eugenie Rovegno (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) totaled three ground balls, three draw controls and one caused turnover. Sophomore goalkeeper
Caroline Kranich (State College, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) made three saves with one goal allowed in 30 minutes.
Senior midfielder Leah Dumas and first-year midfielder Anna Snoddy scored the two Lynchburg goals. First-year Patricia Rogers played the first 30 minutes in goal for the Hornets, making three saves.
The Generals led in shots, 32-11, draw controls, 19-8, and ground balls, 13-10.
