LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee riding team hosted the Collegiate Cup over the weekend, splitting the squad into the Blue Team and White Team, and placed fourth and sixth of 10 teams at the Virginia Horse Center.

Three of the six schools which competed are leading or have won their respective IHSA Regions. Region 3 winners Emory & Henry (Gold) took top honors followed by Hollins Gold and Emory & Henry Blue.

W&L White placed fourth and was comprised of junior
Jillian Rosenwasser (New York, N.Y. / Convent of the Sacred Heart), senior
Lexie Paxton (Rockbridge Baths, Va. / Rockbridge County) and first-year
Allison Hines (Powhatan, Va. / J.R. Tucker) followed by UVA Blue. Hines also earned the distinction of the high Novice Over Fences score.

W&L Blue, which consisted of senior
Sam Johnson (Skillman, N.J. / Stuart Country Day), junior
Zoe Cass (Old Greenwich, Conn. / Greenwich) and sophomore
Clare O'Brien (Dallastown, Pa. / Dallastown Area), placed sixth. UVA Orange, Hollins Green, and the two Sweet Briar teams (region 4 winners) rounded out the event.

The Generals return to action at the Hollins Invitational on March 26th, immediately followed by the regional championships at Hollins that same day. Currently, W&L has eight riders qualified individually for regionals and is leading the region going into the last regular season competition.
