LEXINGTON, Va. — The fourth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team scored the first 18 goals of the game en route to winning its ODAC-opener, 20-3, over Ferrum on Tuesday evening at Watt Field.
Junior attacker
Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton) started the contest by scoring the first two goals off of assists from senior attacker
Janie Stillwell (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal). The Generals (4-2, 1-0 ODAC) had six different players tally the next six goals, followed by an own goal by the Panthers (2-4, 1-1 ODAC), to extend the advantage to 9-0 at the end of the opening period.
Senior attacker
Maggie Frankel (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) and first-year attacker
Caroline Foster (Princeton, N.J./The Lawrenceville School) notched the first two goals of the second, and then back-to-back tallies by sophomore attacker
Alex Petras (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) pushed the margin to 13-0 with 5:48 left in the half. Foster registered the final goal of the period with 1:23 left in the second.
Over the final 30 minutes of play, Ferrum recorded all three of its goals and the Blue and White added six more to its ledger to reach the final score of 20-3.
Foster led the Generals with four goals, the firsts of her collegiate career, and had a team-best four ground balls. Petras and Frankel each added three goals and one assist.
Stillwell finished with one goal and three assists. Schwab had two goals and one assist. Sophomore midfielder
Ginny Taylor (Madison, N.J./Madison) notched one goal and one assist, while junior attacker
Tati Monteleone (New York, N.Y./Hackley School) totaled two assists.

Shannon Timoney (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) led the team with two caused turnovers, while sophomore defender
Eugenie Rovegno (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) secured a team-high three draw controls.
Ferrum held a slight edge in draw controls, 14-12, while W&L led in ground balls, 20-15, and shots, 34-4.
Senior goalkeeper
Sam Sunar (Montville, N.J./Mountain Lakes) started the game and played 21 minutes without facing a shot. Sophomore
Caroline Kranich (State College, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) played 20 minutes, and sophomore
Stefanie Chiguluri (Fairview, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) saw 19 minutes of action and made one save with three goals allowed.
Sophomore Faith Chubbuck played 41 minutes for the Panthers in goal, making nine saves with 17 goals allowed. Junior Amanda Thomas played the final 19 minutes, stopping one shot with three goals allowed.
The Generals next play on Saturday, hosting Christopher Newport at 1:00 pm.
