LEXINGTON, Va. — The fourth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team used a 10-0 run, which started at the end of the first and went into the third, to defeat 14th-ranked Catholic on Saturday, 12-4, at Wilson Field.
The Cardinals (2-2) held a 1-0 advantage through the first six-plus minutes of play, but then a goal by sophomore attacker
Hanna Bishop (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) with 3:06 left in the first ignited the game-deciding spurt.
After Bishop's goal at the end of the first, the Generals (3-2) outscored Catholic, 5-0, in the second to take a 6-1 advantage into the break. In the second, Bishop scored two more times and senior midfielder
McKenna Edmondson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) added two more of her own. Sophomore midfielder
Walker McKnight (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) had the other tally for the Blue and White.
W&L then notched the first four goals of the third period. Junior attacker
Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton) registered the first, and then senior attacker
Janie Stillwell (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) scored twice off assists from Bishop. Sophomore midfielder
Shannon Timoney (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) recorded the final goal of the run to extend the Generals' margin to nine (10-1) with 1:15 remaining in the third.
Over the last 16 minutes of game action, Catholic tallied three goals to W&L's two to reach the final score, 12-4.
Bishop totaled three goals and two assists for five points, while Stillwell had three goals and one assist. Schwab and Edmondson each had two goals and one assist.

Eugenie Rovegno (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) led the team with seven draw controls to go with three ground balls and one caused turnover. Junior midfielder
Jenny Lisovicz (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) had a team-high three caused turnovers.

Caroline Kranich (State College, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) played the first 50:48 in goal, making four saves with two goals allowed. Sophomore
Stefanie Chiguluri (Fairview, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) saw the final 9:12 of action. Senior Rachel Searle played the entire game for Catholic, stopping four shots.
Senior attacker Julia Piet led the Cardinals with two goals, and junior attacker Kate Olsen had one goal and one assist.
The Generals led in shots, 22-12, and in draw controls, 12-8. Catholic had a slight edge in ground balls, 16-15.
The Blue and White open ODAC play on Tuesday, hosting Ferrum at 6:00 pm.
