SALEM, Va.  — First-year Luke Avigliano (Madison, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) broke the school indoor 800m record as the Washington and Lee men's track and field team competed at the Joe LaRocco Invite hosted by Roanoke and the Camel City Invite at the JDL Fast Track on Saturday.

Highlights From the Meet

• Avigliano finished first in the 800m at the Joe LaRocoo Invite, crossing the finish line in 1:56.86, breaking the school record mark of 1:57.14 set by Ian McDonald '17 on February 14, 2015. Sophomore Zach Moore (Advance, N.C./Forsyth Country Day School) placed second in the race in 1:57.98 on Saturday.
• At the Camel City Invite, sophomore Josh Fingerhut (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) led W&L in the 3,000m at 8:51.10 and in the mile in 4:30.97. Sophomore Chris Ruiz (Highland Lakes, N.J./Vernon Township) finished the 800m in 2:01.10.
• At Roanoke, first-year Isaac Barber (Providence Forge, Va./New Kent) placed second in the long jump at 6.30m (20'8.00") and was third in the triple jump at 12.16m (39'10.75").
• In the 3,000m, first-year Henry Haden (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) took the top spot in 9:18.33, and sophomore Hayden Roberts (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) claimed first in the mile in 4:31.01.
• First-year Row Sterne (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) was second in the 3,000m in 9:22.23, and sophomore Jake Symonds (Emerald Hills, Calif./Crystal Springs Uplands) finished second in the mile (4:35.67).
• In the shot put, first-year Stevan Bajski (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro/Woodberry Forest School) took second with a toss of 11.95m (39'2.50").
