Luke Avigliano (Madison, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) broke his own school record in the 800m and senior
Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) claimed first in the pole vault to lead the Washington and Lee men's track and field team to a second-place finish out of 10 teams at the Indoor ODAC Championship on Sunday at the Cregger Center hosted by Roanoke.
The Generals totaled 95 points, while Lynchburg won the team title with 170 points. Bridgewater finished third at 77 points.
Highlights From the Meet
- Avigliano finished fourth in the 800m, crossing the finish line in 1:55.83. His time broke his previous W&L record of 1:56.86, which he set on February 5, 2022. Junior James Dixon (Mountain Brook, Ala./The Altamont School) was sixth in the race, with the second-best time in school history (1:56.41).
- O'Connor won the pole vault with a mark of 4.70m (15'5.00"), easily besting the second-best vault of 4.20m.
- Sophomore Josh Fingerhut (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) placed third in the 3,000m, one of three scorers for the Generals in the event. Fingerhut had a time of 8:48.39, junior Connor Verrett (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) took fourth (8:52.52) and sophomore Jackson Jacobs (Bridgeport, W.Va./Bridgeport) claimed sixth in 9:01.20.
