SALEM, Va. — The Washington and Lee men's track and field team recorded two Top 3 finishes on day one of the Indoor ODAC Championship on Saturday at the Cregger Center hosted by Roanoke to sit in third out of nine teams.
The Generals totaled 27 points through five scored events. Lynchburg is in first with 47 points and Bridgewater is second with 39.
Highlights From the Meet
- The Blue and White took two of the Top 4 spots in the high jump. Sophomore Mark Waller (Mountain Brook, Ala./Mountain Brook) earned All-ODAC laurels by placing second with a leap of 1.90m (6'2.75"). Senior Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) tied for fourth at 1.82m (5'11.50").
- The Distance Medley Relay finished third with a time of 10:28.74. The Top 3 finishes in the race bested the previous ODAC Championship record of 10:34.90. The Generals' foursome consisted of sophomore Hayden Roberts (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield), junior Max Weaver (Charlottesville, Va./Woodberry Forest School), sophomore Chris Ruiz (Highland Lakes, N.J./Vernon Township) and junior Connor Verrett (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield).
- W&L had two runners score in the 5,000m. Sophomore Josh Fingerhut (Haverton, Pa./Haverford Township) placed fourth in 15:42.90, and sophomore Jackson Jacobs (Bridgeport, W.Va./Bridgeport) claimed sixth in 15:45.21.
- In the 60m hurdles, junior Ty Powell (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) and first-year Jaylen Day (Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md./Harve De Grace) each qualified for Sunday's final.
