SALEM, Va.  — The Washington and Lee men's track and field team competed at the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke and the Keydet Invitational hosted by VMI on Friday. Senior Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) led the Generals by taking first in the pole vault in Salem.

Highlights From the Meet

• O'Connor cleared 4.70m (15'5.00") to take the top spot by almost a full meter at the Finn Pincus Meet. Also at Roanoke on Friday, sophomore Mark Waller (Mountain Brook, Ala./Mountain Brook) placed fifth in the high jump at 1.75m (5'8.75").
• At VMI, the Blue and White claimed fifth in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 10:45.82. The quartet consisted of juniors Connor Verrett (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Matthew Todd (Cumberland Foreside, Maine/Greely), sophomore Chris Ruiz (Highland Lakes, N.J./Vernon Township) and senior Nick Watson (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Academy).
