Carson Allsteadt (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and senior outside hitter
Val Sokolow (Draper, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic) each totaled 12 kills to lead the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Piedmont on Saturday in a neutral-site contest at the Cougar Classic.
The Generals (3-1) faced little resistant from the Lions (0-3) in winning the three sets, 25-14, 25-15 and 25-10. W&L totaled 38 kills with nine errors on 87 swings for a .333 hitting percentage. Piedmont had just 21 kills and 20 errors on 89 attempts for a .011 hitting percentage.
Sokolow had a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs, while hitting .308. Allsteadt hit .545 to register her 12 kills. Junior setter
Ashley Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) notched 26 assists and eight digs, while junior defensive specialist
Caroline Gard (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) contributed nine digs, five assists and three aces.
Junior outside hitter Bri King led the Lions with eight kills and seven digs. First-year outside hitter Jenna Ash notched five kills, and senior defensive specialist Jessica Beil recorded 10 digs.
The Generals finish up play at the Cougar Clasic against William Peace at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
