LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior midfielder
Erin Hoeh (Chesterland, Ohio/West Geauga) tallied four points and accounted for three goals in the Washington and Lee women's soccer team's 5-1 win over Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday night in ODAC play.
The win improves the Generals to 6-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play, and it also extended their home unbeaten streak to 24 games (21-0-3). The Royals fall to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in conference with the loss.
Hoeh scored the game's first goal after just 47 seconds had run off the clock. The Royals tied things up in the 13th minute when senior forward Hannah York scored on a penalty kick, but a goal from W&L junior midfielder
Grace Wielechowski (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte, Catholic) in the 20th minute gave the Generals their final lead of the game.
First-year defender
Ann Riley Huber (Atlanta, Ga./Holy Innocents' Episcopal) tallied her first collegiate goal off an assist from Hoeh in the 27th minute, while senior forward
Madeleine Becker (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) scored her first goal of the season in the 69th minute. Junior defender
Annie Martin (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) put the finishing touches on the 5-1 score with her second goal of the season with just under 49 seconds left in the second half.
Hoeh added an assist on Wielechowski's goal for her third career four-point game. Martin and sophomore midfielder
Cameron Grainger (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) paced the Generals' offense with four shots apiece and each put one attempt on goal. Huber, Wielechowski, junior defender

Emily Leding (Little Rock, Ark./Pulaski Academy) took three shots each and combined for six shots on goal.
Sophomore defender
Liz Sullivan (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappen Zee) took one shot in the game and assisted on Becker's goal, marking the first point in Sullivan's career. The Generals' offense took 37 total shots on the night, the second game this season with at least that many, with 16 different players recording a shot attempt.
Senior goalkeepers
Grace Coombs (Boca Raton, Fla./Saint Andrews School) (6-1-1) and
Jasmine Furin (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield School) split time in goal for W&L. Coombs played the first half and made one save, while Furin covered the scoreless second half to extend her consecutive shutout minutes streak to 560:01. The W&L defense limited the EMU offense to two shots on the night, both coming in the first half.
York tallied both shots for the Royals' offense and she also played the final 15:42 in goal, allowing one score. Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Filipkowski (1-3) started and played the first 74:18 and made 11 saves with four goals allowed.
W&L earned 19 corner kicks in the game which is the most since the team took 25 corners in a 1-0 win over Randolph-Macon on November 2, 2013. The Royals were limited to one corner kick.
The Generals will be back in action on Friday night when they host ODAC rival Lynchburg at 7:00 pm.
